Michael's Senior Portraits

I spent two hours early Sunday evening with Michael, a senior at Wichita's Kapaun Mt. Carmel High School, to shoot his senior portraits. We shot a few formals at his house before heading out on location. We visited a small waterfall and a little wooded area nearby before heading to Old Town. During my college years at K-State, we came almost every year to watch the judging. Since I've joined the world as a professional newspaperwoman, I haven't made it back ... until now. I'm not sure why, in December, I decided I just *had* to come, but I did. It's been great! One of my photo friends, Heidi, and I are here for 2 days worth of judging for the multimedia category. They didn't even HAVE this when I was in college, so it's great to watch the competition.

It's on the University of Missouri, Columbia campus. Great place, and great journalism and photojournalism program!



This is one of the lions that guards the area ... I'm told by a MU alum that it has lots of urban legends, but not sure I buy them. :) It's from China from many, many moons ago....



And of coursse since we're here, we HAD to go to Shakespeare's Pizza!!!!!!
