{Products} JuileAnn + Paul's Engagement Album

Engagement albums are so fabulous! Seriously, more than 75% of our couples opt for one. JulieAnn + Paul are using theirs for a guest book, which is awesome.

JulieAnn asked me to put lines in their book for a more structured look.

Here are more of the spreads with lines, plus a few I just love. I can hardly wait to see it at their wedding next month, with lots of signatures in it!

{Alva Wedding Photography} Dani + Devon

Today we have a smokin' hot wedding to share with you! Dani + Devon were married a few weeks ago in Alva, Oklahoma. The day was beautiful, and the details were simply stunning. If you thought their engagement session was fabulous, well, this is even better! It helps that Devon is a firefighter and his comrades were able to chauffeur them around in a ladder truck. :)

Dani rocked out some seriously fierce shoes.

A handkerchief from her grandmother, a beautiful diamond bracelet from her mom. She had stunning accessories. It's always fun to hang out with the girls while everyone is getting ready. The bracelet is an extra special story. Dani's dad bought it for her mom, with the intention of loaning it to Dani when she was married. The catch? The bracelet WENT MISSING. How/when was it found? The DAY BEFORE the wedding by Grandma. No joke! Such a great story behind the picture!

I think we all had a crush on this ring bearer. How could we not?

Before the ceremony, the line was out the door and ... down the side of the church ... it was standing room only.

Dani's walk down the aisle was one of the most emotional we've seen, both for the bride AND her father.

We stole away for some slammin' portraits after the ceremony. Mike might or might not have been standing atop a fire truck to take some of these images. ;)

Such a fun "timeline" to let guests know what was planned!

Because Devon proposed to Dani on the 4th of July, they wanted to include some fireworks in the photos. With some firefighters on hand, we let 'em rip, with some fun results!

Dani + Devon, your wedding was so sensational! It's been a pleasure every step of the way and we're honored to have been a part of it.

Cheers!

{Wichita Family Portraits} Katie + Alex's Family

About a month ago, I met up with Katie, Alex and their two energetic kiddos for some fun family portraits. While Mike took their family portraits last time, it worked out that I would to them this year. This was tons of fun, especially since I know Alex from high school. We suffered through Calc together. Actually, we laughed and joked our way through most of that class.

So, on to their cute kids!

Katie did such an amazing job of coordinating their attire. I love how the colors complement one another without being too "matchey-matchey."

With a 2-year-old, there are  bound to be some antics during the session. :)

Sometimes I just play around a bit with light/composition. This is a result of one of my tests.

{Anniversary} Alicia + Nick

Last year we were celebrating Alicia and Nick's wedding. It was such a sensational day! Hardly seems like an entire year has flown by. Happy anniversary, guys!

{Photojournalism} The In-Between Moments

Mike and I come from newspapers. Our roots are in photojournalism. When we started photographing weddings, there was a bit of backlash from our friends and peers. Often, Mike and I talk about how it's really hard to be a pure photojournalist at weddings. We have to be sure we're not too late getting ready or the ceremony won't start on time, or have to wrangle everyone for groups or a host of other tasks. But once in awhile, every once in awhile, we get to capture life as we would have in our newspaper days.

We are both working to edit Dani + Devon's amazing wedding, which we hope to share in the next week or so.

In the course of editing, I ran across this photo and smiled. It reminds me of my newspaper days. The ones where I would meld into the walls and just observe people. This little ring bearer was TIRED. He cried and had a fit during the bulk of group portraits. As soon as he was done and we were moving the lights? He completely sacked out.

I simply love these in-between moments. While it's possible for brides to plan every detail of their ceremony and reception decor, it's impossible to script these moments. I can't direct life ... I can only be ready to capture it when a ring bearer passes out from exhaustion in the hour before the wedding ceremony.

Have a lovely weekend!

{Derby Wedding Photography} Bailey + Michael

At age two, Michael met his wife.

He and Bailey grew up in the same church, but it wasn't until high school when the pair started became best friends and eventually started dating. Three weeks ago, at the church where they met, Michael and Bailey became man and wife.

Bailey started the day at Venus Fly Trap Salon in Derby. SUCH a fun atmosphere!

Michael wore his late grandfather's cufflinks, which was such a special way to remember his grandfather.

The side of the church provided such a perfect setting for their First Look.

After the First Look, Bailey and Michael exchanged gifts. :)

Since Michael is a golfer, we had to incorporate a little golf in the day.

The First Presbyterian Church in Derby is where the love story began, and where they were also married.

Following the ceremony, we stopped to grab the 1928 Model A, which belongs to Bailey's grandfather. He chauffeured the couple around for some wedding portraits in downtown Wichita.

A little vintage feel ... for fun!

The celebration continued at the Mid-America All-Indian Center.

Since Bailey and Michael practically grew up together and the families share a church, the entire day was filled with such tangible joy. Thank you for inviting us to document your precious memories!
