Where in the world is Karen?

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, more than 50% of small businesses fail in the first year and 95% fail within the first five years.

SO .... why am I posting this on Heartland Photography's blog? That's because I'm at a business workshop, getting more and more organized. It's important to be here for our amazing clients for YEARS to come!

Both Mike and I will be attending another workshop in 11 days as well (which should yield lots and lots of beautiful photos), so be sure to stay tuned for all sorts of exciting updates! AND if I'm lucky, tomorrow should hold some stellar photo-making as well.

Eric proposes to Jackie

Saturday afternoon, I met Eric in Hays to plan his proposal to Jackie, his girlfriend of five years. Actually, Eric had things planned out, but we were meeting to find the perfect location.

Unknown to Jackie, I was hiding in a grove of trees overlooking the stepping stones where Eric proposed. I love the unifying element of photojournalism in our work at Heartland Photography. These are moments you cannot rehearse or re-do. They're real people living their real lives and it's an honor when they ask us to document it.

Andrew Sullivan

Adorable doesn't even BEGIN to describe little Andrew Sullivan (Sullivan is his middle name, and I think it's DARLING!). He was a mere 11 days old during our portrait session, but just cute as ever!

There will be a slideshow posted later this week, and a BIG surprise session, so be sure to check back!
