{Inman Wedding Photography} Emily + Joe

When Emily first met with us, she explained her vision for her fall wedding to Joe. It would be at the Kansas Sampler Foundation Farm, land very near and dear to her family's heart. She'd grown up in and around the farm, so when it was time to get married, she could think of no better location to do so.

Her wedding would be in the fall, with all of the colors fall had to offer. And their ceremony would be outdoors. At sunset.

From Emily and Joe's first look (above) to their romantic portraits prior to the ceremony to the tented party after, the wedding could not have been more perfect. A day filled with love, laughter and friendship, but above all, celebrating the love and new beginning for Emily and Joe.
































A quick note to end this blog post; Emily and Joe took about 15 minutes out of their reception to step away to make some moody, albeit romantic portraits. We don't often suggest stepping away from the party, but when we do, it's for a killer portrait opportunity. Thank you, Emily and Joe for asking us to document your wedding day, as well as for those extra 15 minutes right at the end. We think it was more than worth it!

{Products} Framed Art v. Canvas Gallery Wrap

Around here, we try to be as helpful as possible. In THIS post, we showed you a 24x36 inch canvas gallery wrap next to a framed 20x30 inch print.

Well, we've had a client order a 20x30 canvas gallery wrap, so let's show you the side by side!


With this size of image, the frame adds about 10 inches all around.

This 10 extra inches that a frame/matting can add is why we suggest several things 1) measure the space we're filling. We want to be sure your art is the right size. 2) If you're going gallery wrap over framed, you might want to go a size larger, so it'll not only pop off the wall more, but fill the space.

{Salina Senior Photography} Nicole

Meet Nicole! She's a fabulous senior who came to Salina from Hesston for her senior portraits. She came armed with a full wardrobe of looks for her session, which was fabulous!


She has such a beautiful smile!


I just love it when girls bring their Prom or Homecoming dress along for their portraits.


And amazing eyes. Seriously.


The dress is making an encore appearance! We were shooting in this field and the sun was setting. There was not much light left, but the sky was killer, so I asked Nicole to quickly put it on again ... and I'm in love with the results!

{Wichita Engagement Photography} Morgan + Jacob

Morgan certainly brought the sizzle to this engagement session! I met up with Morgan and Jacob in Wichita this week to capture some engagement photos of these two lovebirds.

Did I mention we were dealing with gale-force winds? These two are pros, though, and didn't even blink an eye!


We started off in Old Town, per Morgan's request, then hit some outer-lying areas.


A very similar feeling to Old Town, but it isn't.


Morgan and Jacob are planning a June 2012 wedding, which seems like forever away, but I'm fairly sure it will be here before we know it!


We ended our evening at Old Chicago, their favorite place downtown. The highlight was introducing me to "Italian Nachos." It was a life-altering experience. ;)

And Jacob? I have not idea what cracked him up, but it looks to be a lively wedding!

{Topeka Senior Photography} Callie

Admittedly, I don't shoot a lot of senior portrait sessions. But when Callie, a senior at Topeka's Shawnee Heights High School, sent me a Facebook message a couple of months ago asking about my availability, I knew this would be one session I couldn't pass up.


You see, Callie is my wife's Little Sister and I've known her since she was 7. Angie, my wife, and I were still in college. I wasn't thinking beyond the end of the semester let alone shooting her senior portraits ten years down the road.


But through the past decade, we've traveled to see her on her birthday. She was a junior bridesmaid in our wedding. I let her take my car for a spin in her school's parking lot as she was learning to drive. Next week we're going with her on a campus visit to K-State, our alma mater. It just doesn't seem possible.


She's turned into a remarkable young woman with a bright and promising future. We couldn't be more proud!


Callie thanked me no less than three times as we were wrapping up our shoot, which started at Burnett's Mound before moving to Lake Shawnee and downtown. No, thank you, Callie. Thank you for asking me to photograph your senior portraits and thank you for just being so AWESOME! -Mike

{Personal} Fabulous open house!

Last weekend, we had an open house here in Salina to celebrate 5 years in business. Clients, past and present stopped by. It was a treat to catch up with old friends, as well as show off our consultation/proofing space. Some of our past clients are revved up to have a new session so they can experience the in-person proofing, which is fabulous!

{Products} Jessica + Ryan's Wedding Album

Today we have something special with Jessica + Ryan's wedding album. Above, you will see an album box (top, left; bottom, right). These boxes are meant to go with our mid-level albums, and are really beautiful!

{Photojournalism} Salina's Heel-A-Thon

Now that I've recovered from nearly being run over by a bunch of runners in heels, I've been able to sift through the photos from last week's event!


There were all sorts of informative facts, as well as stylish shoes to go along with the survivors who turned out for the event sponsored by Salina Goes Pink.


Nicki the Pink Firetruck was in attendance.


Breast cancer survivors were invited to sign the truck.


I *think* this is Nicki ... addressing the crowd.


Now, time for some running action. Heels must be 2" or higher. Yikes!


As you can read here, I wasn't exactly where I intended to be when the race started. I was running down the street, removing and switching lenses as I ran. Great times. So I had my wide angle on at the finish line. Still grabbed some excited competitors.


I think these guys learned it isn't as easy as some women make it look. ;)

Overall, it was fun to be a part of an event that encourages women to stay on top of routine mammograms. The entire event was jubilant and a lot of fun. I can hardly wait for next year!
