I met up with Brandi and her guys a few weeks ago to snap some family portraits. Brandi also is a photographer and we trade sessions on occasion. She photographs my crew and I photograph hers. I've, by far, got the easier gig!

{Wichita Engagement Photography} Megan + Paul

Last weekend, I met up with Megan and Paul at where it all started: at Marble Slab.


We next headed to the lake behind Bradley Fair where Paul asked Megan to be his wife and to capture some memories of their engagement.


These two are just so, so, so relaxed with each other in front of the camera, which results in stunning portraits.


Since Paul has been flying since he was 9 years old, we next headed out to Stearman Field in Benton. He has several friends there, and one was kind enough to let us borrow their plane for some portraits.


The entire cafe is aviation-themed and is really nice. It's not far from East Wichita, and the food is REALLY good. It's a great place to watch a game (we watched the 4 overtimes of the K-State/A&M game) or just grab a bite to eat (I suggest the fried pickle appetizer).


The sun was intense, and the wind was gusty ...


... but we still managed to make some beautiful portraits.


A little wine makes any engagement shoot better. (Or anything better, in my opinion!) ;)

{Products} Canvas Gallery Wrap v. Framed Prints II

Ooohh, Jillian + Drew's signature print is SOOO beautiful!


I like to show comparisons, so I put it on the wall next to one of my 16x24 gallery wraps. The 16x24 is one of our most popular sizes, and for good reason. It's stunning on the wall!

This shows the 16x24 gallery wrap above the 16x24 print, which has been framed. Both fill a wall nicely; it just sort of depends on your personal taste. I could flip a coin, because they're both amazing!

{Anniversary} Caty + Tyler

Hard to believe it's been a year since we were in Kingman to celebrate Caty + Tyler's wedding. They says it's gone by quickly as they've been readying their house for sale in anticipation of breaking ground for a new home that Tyler plans to build himself.

I recently met up with them in Kingman for a family portrait session with their two dogs. I'll share some of those images soon and can't wait to go back in another year to tour their beautiful home.

{Wichita Senior Photography} Jenny

I met up with Jenny and her family a few weeks ago to photograph her senior portraits. I've known her dad for quite some time. In fact, he was my journalism high school teacher and probably did more than anyone to influence my early professional development. So when he called to ask if I'd be interest in photographing his oldest daughter's senior portraits, I was both honored and nervous all at the same time.


But when you have a subject as photogenic as Jenny, it's really hard to screw up!


We spent a good portion of our time in Old Town, which is photographed a lot. I'm always looking for something, anything that I've not seen before. I was intrigued with the positioning of the letters on this loading dock and worked to incorporate them into this urban landscape.


We started our shoot at Exploration Place. I'm not entirely sure this is what any of us had in mind when we arrived but I like the textures of this willow tree and how its form mimics her long, brown hair.


We finished our shoot with a couple of quick stops: The first was this Shakespeare-inspired mural.


The last was this alley shot. When I showed her a preview on the back of the camera, she said, "that's exactly what I want." Jenny, it was a pleasure to photograph your senior portraits and I'm glad we could connect creatively. I hope you enjoy ALL of your photos. :) -Mike

There's just something about a new baby that is so special. Precious. Sacred.


Alexander? He's not only adorable, but loved all over by his parents and big sister, Audrey.


Aaaah, Audrey. Seriously, I want to be 3-years-old again. :)

What I love about doing portraits on-location is that kids are often so comfortable in their own space. Audrey had no problem showing me her room, and when it was time for some portraits there, well, she was a typical 3-year-old. :)

Aaaah, today we are going to share Jillian + Drew's wedding album design. :)

{Wichita Engagement Photography} Jessica + Macey

Jessica + Macey came to Wichita from Ark City a couple of weekends ago to celebrate the one-year anniversary of their first date. So what better occasion than to shoot their engagement photos, too? This photo redefines "hot date!"


I've shot this location before but never during an engagement shoot. Check out those shoes!


When we were done there, Jessica asked Macey to carry her. Those killer shoes were killing her feet.


After a quick wardrobe change, we zipped out to Swanson Park on Wichita's west side to make a few frames with a more rural feel. I drive by this park every day and I love shooting there ...


... but not as much as I'm gonna love shooting Jessica + Macey's wedding next May! -Mike

{Newton Engagement Photography} Jaime + Cory

Let's talk about Jaime and Cory this afternoon. I met up with this duo at a friend's house in rural Newton over the weekend to take their engagement portraits.


Of course we were not going to take the cowgirl out of the boots for their engagement session!




I was a bit blinded by the sunlight off of the lake, but it certainly makes for an interesting photograph!


I am pretty sure every bride tells us that her groom is "shy" and "doesn't like having his picture taken." Jaime told me the exact same thing about Cory, but he was a complete champ during our session.


It was seriously the perfect evening!



Where Jaime shows cattle, Cory does some hunting, so including a few skulls wasn't exactly out of character. :)
