I met up with Ashley + Gavin earlier this week in Wichita for their engagement portraits. It was a brisk day, but these two braved it out for some fun!
Being movie buffs, we closed the session out at the Orpheum. Such a beautiful space!

{Wichita Engagement Portraits} Jessica + Kalie
Over the weekend, I met up with Jessica and Kalie for their engagement portraits in Wichita. Every couple tells me they're nervous or stiff in front of the camera, but every time I take engagement portraits, I know they're wrong. :) Jessica and Kalie were so much fun to photograph. Both as a couple and individually!
One of the places they like to go is to Mort's Martini & Cigar Bar in downtown Wichita. After our rural pictures outside of Wichita, we headed to Old Town for some engagement portraits at Mort's. :)
Jessica and Kalie, thanks for such a fun engagement session! Your 2015 wedding is going to be such a blast!

{Wichita Engagement Portraits} Lacey + David
Lacey and David have such a special love story. When we met up for their engagement portraits in Wichita, they shared that their meeting was completely by chance. Sort of. David's brother met Lacey's friend online, and when it came time to meet, they didn't want to meet a stranger solo, so along came Lacey and David. As backup. Little did they know they'd be meeting their spouse. :)
Loved the crazy-beautiful light!
Digging these post-sunset pics as of late.
Since David brought his sweet new ride along, we grabbed a few pics with the Mustang.

{Salina Engagement Portraits} Brittany + Cole
From the first moment I met Brittany and Cole, the excitement these two exude about their wedding is palpable. Brittany is truly one of the most excited brides I've met - and her wedding is a year away!
While they live in Salina, Bennington is home for her, so we opted to meet at the Prairie Lavender Farm for their engagement portraits. :) The scent of lavender permeated everything! The smell was amazing, and the light was even more beautiful.
A few fun facts about Brittany and Cole: 1) 13 is "their" lucky number. They met on the 13th, had their first date on the 13th and got engaged on the 13th. Can you guess the date of their wedding? ;) and 2) Brittany is nuts for Batman. I don't know a lot of girls who are gaga for Batman, but I can dig it!
Thanks for taking the time to make some memorable engagement portraits, Brittany and Cole! We're excited for your 2015 wedding!

{KU Engagement Portraits} Meghan + Brock
Because they met in Lawrence, Meghan and Brock wanted to take their engagement pictures on KU's campus. Despite the rainy days preceding their session, it was beautiful when we met at the Campanile to start their session.
A little love by the lake. :)
Just some quiet moments. Love.
We concluded our session with some completely delicious sunlight ... the day could not have been more perfect! We're looking forward to a stunning fall wedding!

{Kansas Engagement Portraits} Rebecca + Chris
Chris will tell you that he and Rebecca have been dating since 6th grade. She'll give him "that look" and shake her head. No. At least, not according to her.
These two did know one another through middle and high school, but went their separate ways. She to raise a daughter and he to the Middle East. The two reunited when he was in physical therapy/rehab for an injury sustained during his service. He saw her in the hall, went up to her and said "You're Rebecca, but I bet you don't know who I am." She knew his first and last name without hesitation.
Eventually, Chris began spending extra time at the rehab center. "My normal nurse would see me and tell me I wasn't scheduled for an appointment that day," Chris says. "But I had special lunch plans." Eventually, he won her heart and these two will be married this weekend .... it's going to be a special day and we can't wait to witness/document it!

{Wichita Engagement Portraits} Shae + Cameron
"What if it rains during our session?" Shae asked me. "Let's just give it a try," I answered. When I met up with Shae and Cameron last week, it was lightly drizzling, and continued to do so off and on for the bulk of our session. The rain, however, meant we had the campus of Wichita State to ourselves (or maybe that's because classes were over and graduation was going on? ;) ). Regardless, these two didn't let a few sprinkles ruin their session. Pretty much an amazing attitude to have toward life. :)

Cameron can be sweet, but these two are also playful, too!
How could we not shoot at the "LOVE" sculpture? (if you look closely at the right image, you can see some raindrops!)
Their dog Clyde is part of the family, so he had to make an appearance for some of the pictures. Although truth be told, Clyde hung with us for the entire session and was a good sport about everything .... even his bow tie. ;)

{Wichita Engagement Portraits} Candice + Chris
I met up with Candice + Chris in Wichita this weekend for some engagement portraits. When we scheduled their engagement session for January, it was with the idea that we could move it if the weather was completely disagreeable. The reality of it was Saturday was beautiful! Almost 60, and so off we went!
Candice + Chris are just so much fun! The way they balance one another is truly fun to not only see but to photograph. As you can see, Candice is more somber, and Chris .... well, he kept us laughing all session.
As I said, Chris kept us laughing ..... all.the.time. I think Candice is pretty accustomed to his antics!
Such beautiful, beautiful interaction!
I cannot get ENOUGH of the classic B&W look from this session. The images just seem so timeless. I love it!
We even got crazy and included their dogs in the engagement session. Overall, everyone was impressively behaved!
HSome pretty sunset light. Thankful to have it for a January engagement session!

{K-State Engagement Portraits} Janessa + Neal
Last weekend, I met up with Janessa and Neal in Manhattan for some engagement portraits. We spent a few hours revisiting a few of their favorite haunts, and capturing some memories along the way.
The duo met while living in Goodnow Hall, which is where we started our photographic adventure. They're an incredibly playful couple, which makes taking pictures of them a fun task. :)
We next headed over to the engineering building, where these two spent countless hours. This picture makes me happy in so many ways .... it could be something I would have taken as a photographer for the campus paper ... just a pair of lovers on a beautiful afternoon.
Love, love, love!
The session concluded atop Memorial Stadium. The session could not have been more perfect!
We're looking forward to next fall, when Janessa and Neal will tie the knot! :)
