Karen + Erik's wedding preview (Part 2)

Photobucket
Karen and Erik went out of their way to plan a visually exciting wedding. Karen donned a birdcage veil. Aren't both of these images striking? I wish I could take credit for either of them but Heather, our other shooter for the day, captured both of these images as Karen was getting ready at the hotel.

Photobucket

Erik was a trooper all day, posing for photos here and there. While Heather was photographing Karen's preparations, Erik and the guys followed me over to a nearby parking garage.

Photobucket
Karen wanted some awesome bridal portraits, too. How do you think we did?

Photobucket

I can't say enough good things about Karen and Erik's wedding and these photos are just the tip of the iceberg. :) I'm thinking I could do an entirely separate post on the details alone before the slideshow is up. So if you check back toward the end of the week you might just get another sneak peek! -Mike

Karen + Erik's wedding preview (Part 1)

Photobucket
Heartland Photography's founding partner Karen and her fiance, Erik, were married yesterday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Wichita. Following a brief portrait session featuring hay bales and a 1947 Ford Coupe, we headed to the Petroleum Cub for a short but sweet reception. I had the honor of shooting along side Dallas-based wedding photographer Heather Essian for the entire day and we have a ton of fantastic images! I'll be editing this week and posting a few gems as along the way so stay tuned! -Mike

Bhavna and Corey — sneak peek of wedding

Some of our astute blog readers will notice a different studio stamp in the corner of this photo. That's because over Labor Day weekend, I headed to Silicon Valley with my photographer friend, Jessica Del Vecchio, to document a wedding.

Jessica just posted images from their wedding day HERE. Be sure to cruise on over, check them out and leave Jessica some blog love (blog comments).

I have a monster post coming from the days preceding the wedding (it was a 3-day event!). I have not yet edited through the wedding day images, but I'll post them once I get through them!

On a side note, my respect for all of our brides had QUADRUPLED these past few days! There is just SO MUCH to do before a wedding! I'm *trying* to kick back, relax and get plenty of sleep, but it's all easier said than done!

Happy Anniversary, Mary + Andy!

WOW! Has it really been two years??!??!????! Congrats!

Friday Night Lights

Photobucket
The Wichita Eagle called on me to photograph a prep football game again tomorrow night. I covered two games last weekend: South v. Southeast and Carroll v. Northwest. Against Carroll, Northwest tailback Andrew Etheridge (22) sprinted to the endzone for a first half touchdown. Tomorrow I'll photograph Northwest again, this time at home against Heights. -Mike

Sneak Peek: Fr. Nick's Album Design

Photobucket

Receiving an e-mail with album pages from Amy, our graphic designer, is like Christmas.

Seriously.

I get so excited to review them, send her feedback, and when they're all ready, send previews to our clients.

This album is from Fr. Nick's ordination to the priesthood and his first Mass.

Photobucket

We are heading into album design season after a busy summer, so there should be album pages, and even complete designs, just around the corner!

Photobucket

Fr. Nick's album is getting close, and my goal is to have it to him by Friday! Stay tuned!

Musical.

Mysterious.

Sarah.

Yesterday, Sarah and I headed out for her senior portrait session. We spent some time in Riverside before heading to one of the nature centers in Wichita to combine her music and her future in environmental studies.

Looking at this week's forecast, I'm SO glad we did her session Tuesday ... because for some reason, Kansas thinks it's Seattle right now. Rain, rain, rain.
