Double Ordination!

It's been awhile.

It's been awhile since two men were ordained as priests on the same day at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina. Forty-five years, to be exact.

I was on the scene Saturday to document history, though!

Deacon Richard Daise visits with Bishop Emeritus George K. Fitzsimons prior to the ordination.

Deacon Peter O'Donnell's dad gets a little emotional during the ordination.

Daise and O'Donnell prostrate themselves during the "Litany of the Saints." ... perhaps my favorite part of this photo is their shoes. Check 'em out! Daise has on his cowboy boots (he was a veternarian for the U.S. Army prior to becoming a priest), and O'Donnell has on his dress shoes. Just because a man puts on the collar and is called "Father" doesn't mean he doesn't have individuality!

Bishop Paul Coakley anoints the hands of Father Daise.

Father O'Donnell blesses his family prior to the close of the Ordination Mass.

I also went out to Goodland for Fr. Daise's First Mass .... there will be a slideshow of the Ordination and First Mass coming along! Tomorrow I'm headed to Wichita to photograph the Ordination of deacons there. One of my best-good friends will be ordained, and I'm thrilled to be photographing the event!
