Hilary's Senior Slideshow

A couple of weeks ago I introduced you to Hilary, a senior this year at Trinity Academy in Wichita. Following a fabulous session in her prom dress, she changed into a couple of casual outfits for some fun pictures back inside The Ville. The Ville is a great location to shoot, but is also quite the lighting challenge as it has very low light and no windows. Thanks to Hilary's mom, Jeretta, for being my lighting assistant during the shoot, which ended about three hours after it started. Click here to see a slideshow of Hilary's senior portraits. -Mike

Hilary's Senior Portraits

I had a great time hanging out with Hilary tonight for what I hope is only the first of her senior portraits. She wore her junior prom dress for most of the shoot, which went well with the Parisian décor at St. Vincent de Paul church in Andover. She chose a couple of casual outfits, too, but I'll save those for the slideshow, which I'll start working on just as soon as I return from a quick weekend trip to KC.

Hilary is an artist and actress so she has a true appreciation for vision and style. She is quite the free and uninhibited spirit herself. When she called me, she stressed how important it was to her that her senior portraits be non-traditional yet classical. Mostly, she wanted some dynamic poses. One of my favorite turned out to be a playful moment on The Ville's grand staircase. -Mike

Happy Anniversary, Mary + Andy!

Last year, Mike and I documented Mary & Andy's wedding at St. Vincent de Paul in Andover. They had so many fun details that showed their personality and made the day so much fun! Happy one year anniversary, you guys!

I also hear you're having a baby in February, so we're excited to watch your family grow! We can't wait to see you at Robin and Chris' wedding in December!

It was also the first wedding for Mike, as the newest member of the Heartland team! We'd both photographed weddings and portraits individually before deciding we could offer clients better service by a dual approach to wedding documentary photography. Mike has brought SO MUCH to Heartland, including our rockin' graphic designer who created our logo. Thanks Mike! I'm looking forward to a bright future!
