Moody Photo

Tonight, I'm looking through photos I took while visiting my youngest brother at college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I just couldn't get enough of this building on campus. Check out how .... old and historic it looks. So, in processing, I just had to make look like a "tin type" photo. :)

On a completely side note, I went on this trip with my dad, who taught me to work a SLR camera 15 years ago. I watched this building every time we walked by it .... and guess how many frames I took to get this one to share with you? Anyone? I just took ONE frame. Yup. That's it. Dad ... was all over the place, closer, far away, in the middle of the street ... looking for "the right" shot.

BEEN THERE ... but the longer we shoot weddings, lemme tell you. I'm learning to really study a situation and find the best angle, light and composition. THEN take the frame (for every one hour we shoot at a wedding, we're spending 2 hours after the fact editing/etc ... so if I shoot for 12 hours, that's a full 24 hours of post processing!).

Wow. I certainly stepped on a soapbox this evening. Just wanted to share a personal photo from a little photo safari I went on.

We've not blogged in awhile, but it's because we've been busy with updating sites, product updates on our online store.

But tonight I broke out of my darkened workspace to work on a special project. I can't share many details, but I *can* share this photo with gobs of delicious sunlight!

Shauna + James' Wedding Album Design Preview

Wow. I am always excited to get album previews!!!! It's awesome to see how our graphic designer translates our vision of a wedding into a storybook of the day.


We're coming off Robin and Chris' 100 page album to Shauna and James' 20 page album. It's amazing to see how a wedding story can be expanded or shortened, but still use powerful photos to tell the story of the day. It's important to remember that different couple have different desires, so we can do BOTH big and small albums. And thanks to our awesome graphic designer, the entire story gets told comprehensively!

I can't wait to share the entire design once it's done. Stay tuned!!!!

Products — Event Cards

One fun aspect of our weddings is the event cards (it's truly one of my favorite parts of a wedding .... giving them to brides ... seeing them light up when they see the spectacular cards!).

They're front and back business cards with an awesome photo from your engagement session. Guests can grab a card and take them home, follow the easy directions on the back to view your wedding photos. And generally, there are some left over, so when your friends or co-workers who couldn't make it to the wedding ask how they can see your wedding photos, you just give 'em a card!
