Shauna + James' Wedding Album IS IN!!!!!!!

Seeing double? Yup! Since Shauna and James opted to add pages to their spectacular wedding album, I wanted to give them a little "thank you" gift. (It'll be easier to stick in your purse and show off at work than the big album, Shauna!)

Isn't the 5x5 size ADORABLE!??!??!?? :)

It was in a few weeks ago (before their anniversary) but I've been busy and am catching up on blogging, OK?)

An exact copy, but half the size. Cute!

Opening page ... lovely!

Even with more elaborate design, it still rocks at a 5x5 size!

Happy Anniversary, Shauna + James!

A year ago, Mike and I spent the day in Newton documenting Shauna and James' wedding. Shauna had been planning their 06-07-08 wedding for a LONG time, and the day went beautifully!

Shauna + James' Wedding Album Design Redux

Ok, ok, ok. I know what you're thinking: "Didn't you post Shauna and James' wedding album a few weeks ago?"

Yes, we did post it .... but as we were finishing our album updates, Shauna sent me a text, asking if we could bump up their stellar album. The answer is YES and YES!!!!! :)

Here's what I LOVE:

1. The awesome spread (above).

2. The double-truck on pages 4 & 5. This is one of my all-time favorite images, and with the extra pages we're able to make it BIG and beautiful!

3. The photo of Shauna's brother on page 47. Yes, that's him SPEWING beer on me during his keg stand. It's one of the most amusing memories of their wedding. :)

Shauna and James, enjoy your new, updated, beautiful 50 page album design by CLICKING HERE.

We're ready to unveil Shauna and James' wedding album design!

To check out the entire 40-page album, please CLICK HERE.

Also, a side note to Shauna and all our other brides out there .... this is a PROOF of the album. Once our couple gives us the final OK for the album design, the images are all individually re-touched and toned. :)

Shauna + James' Wedding Album Design Preview II

We're getting close, Shauna. I PROMISE!!!!!

Shauna + James' Wedding Album Design Preview

Wow. I am always excited to get album previews!!!! It's awesome to see how our graphic designer translates our vision of a wedding into a storybook of the day.

We're coming off Robin and Chris' 100 page album to Shauna and James' 20 page album. It's amazing to see how a wedding story can be expanded or shortened, but still use powerful photos to tell the story of the day. It's important to remember that different couple have different desires, so we can do BOTH big and small albums. And thanks to our awesome graphic designer, the entire story gets told comprehensively!

I can't wait to share the entire design once it's done. Stay tuned!!!!

Shauna + James' wedding slideshow

Karen and I are wrapping up the editing on Shauna and James' wedding from earlier this month.

The ladies started off their day by having their hair done at 3 Elements Salon and Spa in Wichita before making the drive up to Newton for the big event. Newton just happens to have a few really cool places to photograph, including the college, the train station and a quaint downtown.

There were so many wonderful highlights from their wedding that we don't even know where to begin. The cheerful sunflower bouquets (which were actually California sunflowers, not Kansas sunflowers because Kansas sunflowers have brown centers) were designed by John and Designs by John.

There was a Hawaiian undertone to their wedding. The Tahitian Black pearls worn by Shauna were from the Pearl Gallery in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

And the reception was absolutely the best party we've attended in some time. The dance floor was packed the entire night and it sure didn't seem as though anyone left early. Shauna and James hired Totally Legal Sound and Lighting deejays Jon and David, who not only kept everyone entertained but saw to it that Shauna's mom Geene, who suffered a broken ankle shortly before the wedding, got in on the action, too!

Shauna and James, enjoy your slideshow and thanks for inviting us to share in your special day! -Mike

Shauna + James' wedding preview

Karen and I spent Saturday in Newton photographing Shauna and James' wedding. And what a wonderful wedding it was! Shauna and James agreed to see each other before their ceremony so that we could spend some time making dynamic portraits. The couple met at Bethel College so that's the first place we headed. The college has an incredible lawn in front of its administration building that reminded us of K-State's Anderson Hall. Shauna and James were a fantastic couple and went along with all of our ideas, even when I asked them to run across The Green.

These two lovebirds are such an affectionate couple! They truly enjoyed spending time with each other during the shoot.

Karen made it to Newton for rehearsal on Friday and took some time to scout a few locations. On her way up to Bethel, she found this lane with and old white fence. It as the first place we went after the ceremony. I love how Shauna's bouquet looks like a flower box, as if it belonged right there on that fence. Good find, Karen!

Before we returned for the reception, we made a quick stop in a nearby wheat field. James' family lives in Hawaii, so during the ceremony Shauna and James honored each other with a maile lei exchange. What a wonderful detail to mix with such an iconic Kansas scene. There are more amazing images from this truly outstanding wedding and we're grateful that Shauna and James invited us to be a part of it! Be sure to check back in the coming days for a slideshow from their big day. -Mike

Shauna and James' Slideshow

Before I show off Shauna and James' awesome slideshow, I want to share a little story behind this photo (it's the photojournalist in me — I just can't get away from a good story!)

This bronze statue of Wyatt Earp was made by Shauna's grandmother, Mary Spurgeon. So, of course, she wanted to take a few photographs with the statue!

The Sunday I photographed Shauna and James in Dodge City was windy, as you'll see in the slideshow. They were such troopers and we had a blast at Boot Hill.

Thanks guys! We're so excited for your June wedding!

Enjoy the slideshow!

Shauna and James' engagement session

Wedding season is here!!!!!

Ok, so this is a post about engagement photos, why am I talking about wedding season? That's because we include an engagement session in EVERY one of our packages. They give us a chance to get to know our couples better before the wedding.

Sunday was an awesome opportunity to hang out with Shauna and James in Dodge City.

Shauna is seriously the most excited bride I've ever met! Since she booked with us, she's been signing all of her e-mails "the future Mrs. LaPish," which I think is adorable. She's also included me on her email list so I get updates on the flowers and wedding details. I LOVE being a part of the wedding planning process!

I'll close with one last photo I think shows a little of this cute couple's personality. I simply adore the way Shauna is looking up and how James is about to kiss her. *swoon*

The slideshow should be up soon, so be sure to check back!
