{Products} Ashley + Tyson's Wedding Album

HOLLLLLA!!!!! Ashley and Tyson's wedding album looks superb!

I love the series of photos in this spread.

This is really special, with grandma putting her pearls on Ashley.

And some fun with the bridal party! :)

{Personal} Keeping ahead of the game

Last night, I was asked by Salina Downtown to photograph their "Heel-A-Thon" where women (actually, some men participated, too) donned heels at least 2" high to do a 100 yard dash.

The organizers wanted photos of the heels at the starting line, then photos of the race. No sweat. Since I was somebody "official" I figured they'd wait until I was situated to start the race.

I'm pretty sure it was these thoughts that prompted the universe to say "Think again, Karen!!! Are you on your toes today?"

I took the starting line photos, then was about half way down the street when there was a lot of cheering. I'm not foolish enough to think it was for me. I turned around, and there they were, running toward me. In heels.

Great. So I start sprinting, taking a lens off of one body, plowing through the crowd to get to my long lens, and all this into a big headwind. Of course, my buddy, Jeff, was at the finish line to capture me racing to get in place.

In the end, I did grab some wide angle shots at the finish line, but not what I had hoped to photograph. Oh well, life often runs away from us (even if it involves local male Oncologists running in heels), and the best we can do is to stay ready and as ahead of the action as we can!

I'll have some photos of the event to share next week, so be sure to check back. There were some killer high heel Nikes I can't wait to show you!

REMINDER: Our Heartland Open House is Sunday from 2-4 p.m. in Salina .... stop by to say hi! :)

{Salina Engagement Photography} Alex + Seth

Today's visual treat is from Alex and Seth's engagement session here in Salina.

Sometimes, grooms-to-be are a little shy or nervous in front of the camera. Not Seth. See how natural he is? This is from our first set of photos, and it often takes a groom awhile to warm up to the whole picture taking routine. Seth was ready to roll from the word "Go!"

Alex is 9 inches taller than Seth, and with a height difference like that, you've just got to embrace it.

Alex and Seth wanted to head to some rustic locations, so away we went!

You'll see a little Jayhawk peeking out ... since these two met at KU, they wanted to include a little school pride.

Their wedding is an entire year away, but after their engagement session, I wish it were next week ... it's going to be awesome!

{Salina Senior Photography} Molly

Meet Molly. We had a ton of fun last weekend shooting her senior portraits here in Salina!

When her mom and I were talking on the phone prior to the session, the first thing she mentioned was wanting portraits on a swing, but "not at the playground." I immediately thought of this location, which turned out to be perfect with her country dress.

Speaking of dresses, she brought along her prom dress from junior year, which is SUCH a fun idea! And with such a bright dress in a natural grass field, it just jumps out at you!

Amazing eyes, fantastic smile. Perfection. :)

{Salina Family Portraits} Cindy + Patrick's Family, 2011

Ahhhh, fall is finally in the air, which means it's family portrait time! Last week, I spent some time with Cindy, Patrick and their trio of boys.

With three very energetic young boys, it's anyone's guess what might happen during a session. Honestly, I like these little "in between" moments ... no, not everyone is sitting perfectly, but c'mon, with kids is anything perfect?

High.Energy.

Awww, love this!

As I was editing this session, I couldn't help but laugh. Lots. These guys are hilarious, and there are so many goofy outtakes.

{Engagement Album Design} Kim + Tim

Woah! Two album designs to share in one week. We're on a roll around here! :)

Today's installment is Kim + Tim. I'm loving all over this album cover, I gotta say!

Pulling the elements into the design. This will be used as their guest book, and it's fabulous!

The whole she-bang.

{Wedding Album Design} Serena + Luke

YAY!!!! Serena + Luke's wedding album design looks fabulous! So excited to share it with you today!
